British Strawberry Month!

Great British Strawberries from Norfolk.

Berries Direct Farming

Last week, in celebration of British Strawberry month, we took a walk around our Hempnall site to get up close and personal with our latest crop of strawberries taking a few photos along the way – luckily our subjects behaved flawlessly and loved having their photo taken.

May is also a month of ritual, of feasting and dancing, with customs celebrating growth in the fields and abundant new life. Our rituals are more about dusting ourselves down for an early start to catch the cool morning air and vowing to swiftly hand pick the many fresh berries waiting for that day’s harvest, but we’re still holding them sacred.

Malling Centenary in the glasshouse in the middle of the picking season with plenty more to come!

Favori & Murano in the outdoor tunnels – beginning to change from flowering to fruiting with the first berries ready and waiting for their time to shine!

Two different seasons, great tasting (and looking) berries.

For more of this season’s fresh pics (and picks!) take a peek at our gallery.
