August.

Peak picking is underway

The high temperatures we experienced in July meant we had a peak in our Murano strawberry crop out in our tunnels.  Favori our other table-top variety peaked in mid July.  This meant that volumes started to decrease rapidly into August as our season began to slow down.

This allowed the team to start planning our new season crop in the glasshouses; ready to pick in October.  We spend time making sure that the glasshouses are tidy and ready for another season.  There is a lot of maintenance to be done and this year we used a new tape structure to help our plants grow well and strong; growing upwards rather than outwards and increasing the opportunity to boost our picking speeds in the Autumn.
