Meet the team that brings us the berries - Ingrid

Meet Ingrid – from giving guidance, lending a listening ear and being an all-round good egg!

We found out a little bit more about why she’s a natural team leader and her creative solution to a desert island dilemma…

Tell us a bit about you and explain your job to us in a sentence or two?

I first started working at BDF in 2009. I’m a team leader who’s responsible for guiding and leading an entire group of people as well as monitoring and managing the quality of work.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Initially I make a work plan for the day ahead. I also arrange worker teams as well as explaining and teaching the jobs that need to be done that day alongside monitoring and supervising the quality of the work being done.

What inspired you to do this job?

I enjoy working well as part of a team and leading a team to success as well as having key skills, such as being a good communicator, which is crucial in this role.

How do you describe your job to your friends?

I’m a team leader who is responsible for guiding and leading an entire group.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The best part is being able to offer help and support to our workers, to talk about any worries or conflicting thoughts they might have so that we can deal with these to find clarity and solutions.

In your eyes what is the best variety you grow and why?

Malling™ Centenary - uniform and consistent size, good sugar levels, great colour, delicious taste, only first class and simply first class!

What technology do you have/use to help you grow your strawberries?

We have irrigation systems to make sure our strawberries get exactly the right amount of water in the right place, so they never go thirsty and can always be picked at their very best.
