We’ve been picking!

New season british strawberries.

It’s happening, we’re picking!

We’re excited to announce that harvesting is underway on our farms and delicious new season strawberries are leaving the farm gates and heading direct into stores from our glasshouses at Berries Direct in Norfolk.

As blue skies, warm breezes and the spring sunshine has sprung at our farms in Norfolk, our fabulous picking teams have been hard at work, safely and swiftly picking for the first few days of the new season to get the harvest started.

Our teams continue to follow a robust plan to ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of everyone as the first picks of British strawberries come in and for the season ahead.

We’ve been dishing up some real treats as we pick fresh new season Malling™ Centenary, a sweet and richly flavoured variety from breeding specialist, NIAB EMR. Our pickers understand the meticulously high standards needed to give us our prime picks from the strawberry patch and these sizeable berries, with their glossy appearance and even shape, make it quicker and easier to pick the consistent quality and flavour that our customers love.

We’ve already received some wonderful compliments from consumers regarding our great tasting strawberries and for their delicious and consistent flavour – they’re just as excited to be able to select them from the shelves as we are to pick them!

As the season continues to ramp up, we will begin picking a large amount every day to fulfil our customer demand.

We couldn’t resist taking a quick peek into the tunnels to see how they’ve been getting on since they were planted out earlier in the year.

These are the Murano strawberry tunnels - another high-quality berry which produces a beautiful bright mid-red colour and distinctive flavour, which is the textbook blend of characteristics consumers look for and love to eat during the height of British summer.

It’s still early days, but with the plentiful bloom and the assistance of our pocket-size team members, AKA the resident bees working around the clock, we’re well on the way to a lovely crop of delicious strawberries for the months that lie ahead.
