April brings a fresh new glasshouse season at Berries Direct in Norfolk. It’s time for fresh picks of great British strawberries.

This season we are trialing 'Sonsation' a new variety from Flevo Berry in Holland

Sonsation tastes very similar to the varieties we are know well in the UK; Elsanta and Sonata - but this is on a bigger scale - Sonsation is twice as big as our Elsanta fruit used to be an our local customers are reporting back that they love it.

The variety that we grow the most at our farm in Hempnall is Malling™ Centenary from breeding specialist, NIAB EMR. It’s great fruit that has a wonderful shape. We love it because the pickers find it so quick and easy to pick and our customers love the consistent quality and flavour. This is a large berry, uniform in shape that as the season continues we will picking a huge amount every day to satisfy our supermarket demand.
